Thumbs Up Century !!!
This is a semi scale ARF kit from
Century.
When I received this kit, I was amazed with
all the detailed work on the tail boom and
bubble canopy. It's all aluminum and welded.
It only took a second to install this boom.
Not like the Hirobo Lama which is made out
of plastic and aluminum, which you have
to put together. This one from Century
is done for you and it's even painted nicely
in Daytona yellow.
I was spoiled by the Century Twin-Star kit
that I built a month ago. That NBC Twin-Star
took me five hours, so I was a little worried
that it would have taken me much longer
to build this Bell 47G® II. What a surprised
once I started to build this one! This kit
took me less than four hours to build and
I spent more time trying to find and decide
which engine and servos to use.
The most time consuming was to install (gluing)
the bubble canopy, make sure you follow
the instructions. They call for bending
the corner on the clear canopy prior to
gluing together. I skipped this procedure
thinking of it wasting time. Boy what a
mistake I made since I spent more time trying
to put this canopy together. I spent almost
an hour for nothing, so I finally gave up
and started putting those bends around the
edges of the clear canopy. Voila.... so
easy, less than 10 minutes. Uh... I can
kick myself.
Prior to gluing this canopy, I thought the
canopy was flimsy, but once I glued them
together, oh boy.. it's so solid like a
rock. Here you go again Century. Two thumbs
up for you!
I test flew this machine when the wind was
about 25-30 mph. It hovers solid, but I
did not have a chance to fly it around until
this morning. When I went to fly just behind
my house here, I managed to fly around while
my wife took the pictures. Boy it flies
very nice, solid, and stable. The Century 50 size scale mechanics
proove it again. It looks very nice and
the bubble canopy looks great!
